Preferred Linux variant for PH?

Hi,

We are planning a migration of our PH applications from Unix (hp-ux) to Linux. Only the PowerHouse applications will be migrated, the Oracle databases remain on virtual Windows servers.

1) The Linux flavors in question are RHEL - Red Hat Enterprise Linux and SLES - SUSE Linux Enterprise Server, and the selected Linux will run virtualized using VMware.

While it is difficult to find generally pros and cons considering these two Linuxes, we would like to learn of if someone on the list may have experiences running PowerHouse apps on either - from tests/evaluations or maybe production sites.

I have heard that Red Hat is more common in the Americas, while SUSE seems to be chosen more frequently in Europe.

2) The current version of PowerHouse (8.4xG) supports RHEL 4, 5, 6 but not 7, and for SUSE it is 10 and 11, but not 12, all according to the Unicom website. Also Oracle is supported for version 11g, while 12c is the most current version now.

Does anybody know of an upcoming new release of PowerHouse, supporting the current versions of RHEL (7), SLES (12) and Oracle (12c)?

Thank you in advance.

Mange hilsner / With kind regards
