Very briefly...

Here is the procedure for calling IBM for Cognos Software support:

Call IBM Customer Support at 1-800-426-7378.
Select Option 2.
Select Option 2 again.
Select Option 7.

Please have the following information available when you call:

Customer Name:
IBM Customer Number:
IBM Site Number:

After some verifying your access to support, IBM support reception will pass
your call to the IBM Cognos brand, where a receptionist will gather the
usual preliminary information and pass you to the appropriate Cognos support
team.

Not sure what support will say about this situation, but the answer *may* be
something like this:
There are three dictionary interfaces in PowerHouse for OpenVMS:
                PHD
                PHDPDL
                PDL
Use PHDPDL if you wish to use PDL to open a PHD dictionary.

The dictionary in an 8.40.E dictionary.

I have some PDL code I'm trying to import into the dictionary.

Is anyone able to simply run PDL and set dict on 8.40?

We have a Cognos support contract, but it is impossible to call them. The
phone menu is in an endless loop where it never calls who you want and just
keeps going back to the menu.

BOB DESKIN ARE YOU LISTENING?? We pay good money for support and hardly ever
call, but when we need it, we expect the support we paid for.

Hi Richard:

I would setpow to 7.10 and in QSHOW 7.10 general the PDL.
I don't think any of the 840 versions recognize the old dictionary.

I haven't use PDL is quite some time, but the last century, er I mean, time
I tried it, it worked fine. Now I'm having trouble even getting rolling.

For example:

IA_CYP_DEV>> dir *.phd

Directory DEVAPP:[IA2_DEV.EXE.CYP]

IA00.PHD;7 9/144 21-JAN-2008 12:51:47.84
[IA,IA_MASTER]

               (,,,RE)

IA01.PHD;7 4848/4848 21-JAN-2008 12:51:52.73
[IA,IA_MASTER]

               (,,,RE)

IA02.PHD;7 672/672 21-JAN-2008 12:51:56.00
[IA,IA_MASTER]

               (,,,RE)

IA03.PHD;7 2880/2880 21-JAN-2008 12:51:59.37
[IA,IA_MASTER]

               (,,,RE)

Total of 4 files, 8409/8544 blocks.

IA_CYP_DEV>> pdl

P D L (PowerHouse 8.40.E)

> set dictionary ia

*E* File IA could not be found.

> set dictionary DEVAPP:[IA2_DEV.EXE.CYP]ia

*E* File DEVAPP:[IA2_DEV.EXE.CYP]IA could not be found.

What am I doing wrong?
