[Bulk] RE: PowerHouse licensing question

Everyone is correct. On MPE, we do not have a separate type of software
enable key for each "flavor" of PowerHouse. Rather, we ship the
appropriate flavor based on what was purchased and license or enable that
flavor based on the hostid or serial number of the machine. The MPE/iX
Getting Started books (the latest ones for 8.49D1 and 8.49E) have a table
showing the components in each flavor. You can download them from the
support site.

Walter, the fastest way to tell if you have a development license on the
machine is to go into Qdesign.

It will only work if you have a development license on that machine

Hi Walter,

There are actually five (5) types of PowerHouse licenses:

'Full Development' -- no restrictions ('the works').

'Runtime' -- you can only execute compiled Quiz, Quick and QTP programs.

'Runtime with Reporting' -- same as 'Runtime' but also allows you to run
Quiz source.

'Reporting Only' -- never purchased this option but think that it is
Quiz only.

'Reporting No Dictionary' -- don't know about this one.

Subject: PowerHouse licensing question

Greetings,

Since I'm not the person in my bureaucracy who handles licensing and
support, I have a rather simple question for the group.

Environment: PowerHouse 4GL Version 8.39C1, MPE/iX 7.5.

For PowerHouse, is there a distinction between a development license and
a run-time license? I am told that only one of our systems has a
development version, and the rest are all run-time. I can't tell the
difference. In fact, the machine we now use for PowerHouse development
is not the one that our SysAdmin claims to have the development version.

So, is there a difference? If so, how do I tell what kind of license a
machine has?

Thanks.

Walter
