Thanks for all the responses....I'm not there yet....Probably should have
written this in QTP, but.......
Should have posted some more detail on what I'm trying to accomplish....

Trying to sort/report at head/foot of sort keys....

Sort on key1 on key2 on key3 on key4
;
initial heading...
heading at key 2
footing at key4

I'm missing some syntax to allow this, because..........

rep summary 
;
initial heading.....
;
heading at key2.....
;
footing at key4......
;;
and I get
*E* Can't write to a subfile with either no REPORT statement, or no REPORT 
items.
