Cross machine file transfers

Thanks to everyone (Ron, Terry, Ted, Joseph, Tim, George, John & Richard) who
suggested portable subfiles. I'm not sure how I missed the obvious. I'm sure it
will work, we just need to work out the file transfer options now
(unfortunately 1 persons downloading from the Unix, another is uploading to the
HP and I'm trying to figure out the right options) but it shouldn't be too
hard.
