Problems with the loss of logicals :o 

In a VAX version of the application I am currently involved with we were 
using LOGICALS (LNM$JOB) to pass information between QUIZ and QTP jobs and 
vise versa.  

When we moved to UNIX (same applicable for VAX Version 8.x) we lost the 
ability to set JOB logicals this caused us a large amount of work to convert=

all of these QUIZ/QTP routines to use files and then to deal with the file 
clean up and user sharing issues.  For a large reporting company with 18 
applications, this was no small task. 

I would anticipate that a number of other VAX customers would also encounter=

this problem.

Hi all,

The following VMS features would need to be added to v8.x before we would
be able to upgrade:

Mailboxes
Several systems use mailboxes for internal temp storage.

Systemvalue
We set and read Job and User table logicals from code, also symbols.

We would also hate to lose POW/PHD functionality.
