Thanks Bob for your reply on this it answers my question fully.

Is anyone out there working on a Virtual Stromasys Charon/SMA solution on systems written in Powerhouse?
We are using Oracle/RDB, VMS , Powerhouse v7.10 running on an Alpha ES40 and contact points with other users would be really helpful.

PowerHouse is not compiled to machine language. The various BUILD statements create sets of tables which drive the execution time engines. I've heard this approach called bytecode, but it's not platform independent like Java. In other words, if I build a report on OpenVMS, I can't run that compiled report on UNIX, even though the source code is identical.

Hello,
I have a question on Powerhouse Complied code.
When powerhouse programs (e.g. QTP) are compiled with a build statement and are then executed is the code 'truly compiled' or is it interpreted at run time?
I believe 3GL languages such as Cobol are compiled but I am unsure regarding powerhouse programs.
