I don't think they are "truly" compiled as executables but yes they are likely to run faster.
And they only take @IF statements as they happened when compiled. So if you have any varying @IF logic at run time it won't work. (Or more properly, you only get the @IF's that qualified as they were.)
There used to be a 3rd party a long time ago that truly compiled Quiz into executables but I think they ran into a legal issue and were never heard from again.

Hello,
I have a question on Powerhouse Complied code.
When powerhouse programs (e.g. QTP) are compiled with a build statement and are then executed is the code 'truly compiled' or is it interpreted at run time?
I believe 3GL languages such as Cobol are compiled but I am unsure regarding powerhouse programs.
