The latest versions of PowerHouse require at least HP-UX 11i V1 so that is
a complication.
There should be no problem getting a software enable key for the
replacement processor. It is correct that the old key can't be moved to a
new processor because the serial number is embedded in the key. But there
is no problem with getting a new key. They would make a request through
customer support.

It would be just a long overdue upgrade HP-UX to HP-UX primarily as a
result of a system failure and the ability to get a license key on the
replacement processor.
Essentially the client has 2 legacy apps that were to be migrated EONS
ago.. They never were and the machine has failed..
They have 3 other like machines but none of them have PH and the concern
is that if the machine cannot be revived that the license key cannot (and
they were told that it cannot) be moved to the newer box and they will
have no choice but to upgrade.. I don't know if moving the key is a fact
or not.. I'm just going to try and ballpark the work effort..
Another question that comes up.. They are stuck at HP-UX 10.2 as a result
of something else.. Does that complicate anything?

If they're planning on migrating to the latest version on HP-UX, which is
8.43G, not much would need to be done. I would recommend reading the
various new feature guides and release note in between. C-ISAM is still
supported on UNIX but on Linux it uses DISAM, a C-ISAM clone. Most
everything else is the same. You'll want to look at fix lists as well to
see if any fixes changed something you were making use of.
There is no PHD on UNIX, which is a QUICK-based application to handle the
dictionary. If you were using Architect, you would generate the PDL source
code and go from there.
We have a couple of migration guides and although they're for migrating
from MPE/iX or OpenVMS, they do cover many os the things you might want to
look at, just in terms of checking them off that there are no changes. And
if you're moving to relational, the guides talk about that. They're

So a very loaded question...
Say someone was running a very old version of PH on Unix (7.33.D3) and
they needed to migrate to something current.. What would let need to look
at.. Not much of it is compiled other then the quick screens. but it uses
a lot of CISAM
I can come up with a couple on my own;
-Existing Subfiles
-Recompilation
-Is CISAM still supported?
-Function defaults
-QKDRIVERs
-PHD to PDL
