Hi Brian:
I would try reading with FREEFORM instead of ZONED NUMERIC.

This one is a little odd for me... On Unix and PH 7
I have a field coming from a windows based ERP. which can have a leading floating minus.. (decimal thankfully is implied)
The field in PH is defined as ZONED NUMERIC and I'm getting conversion errors on any record that has the minus sign almost like its expecting only numbers..
I read the file in COBOL as well and they are doing a brute force inspect/tally/replace and then multiply the result in Working Storage.. (Program is from the early 70's!)

Thanks
