I would guess that if the same code doesn't work when pasted to a larger
source file, that it could be that you need to qualify the filename
containing item 'staff-id'.
You don't say which code you now have working, so it might be useful if you
paste the code from the small quick screen which works in an email to the
list.

Thanks all, for the input and suggestions.
I have not solved the problem but I can get the commands to work if it is a
small QUICK program.
But once I copy the same codes to the actual program (over 1,400 LOC), it
does
not function.
Any ideas.
