DMS-E-CONNECTREJECT error

You might want to have one of your HP-UX experts take a look at the
number, state, and configuration of TCP sockets on your system. I seem
to remember that many of the parameters around configuring such things
are part of the Unix kernel.
I have run into issues with Oracle in the past where when a connection
to the database was closed and the Oracle software released the TCP
socket, but the O/S was configured in such a way that the socket
resources were not being released for another 5 minutes. Eventually, as
sockets were being requested and released very frequently, the system
ran out of TCP sockets and/or resources to allocate to them. I believe
the way that Sybase works does indeed request and release many
'connections' and hence makes quite heavy demands on socket resources.
The 'Unable to open socket' message would lead me to check this given
that you have already increased the total number of connections that the
database is configured to handle.
Best regards,
Conrad

Subject: DMS-E-CONNECTREJECT error
Hello,
Has anyone seen this kind of error before:
DMS-E-CONNECTREJECT, A connection has been rejected by the remote
interface during operation 'asynchronous open'.
Unable to open socket.
The database is Sybase on HP/UX and the interface is Axiant. It is not
the number of open to the database that's causing this, we increased
that number but the error remained.
Any help would be appreciated.
