DMS-E-CONNECTREJECT error

Hello,
 
Has anyone seen this kind of error before:
 
DMS-E-CONNECTREJECT, A connection has been rejected by the remote interface during operation 'asynchronous open'.

Unable to open socket.

The database is Sybase on HP/UX and the interface is Axiant. It is not the number of open to the database that's causing this, we increased that number but the error remained.

Any help would be appreciated.
