Vax to Alpha - Recompile Needed?

G'day Steve

I believe as the VAX is a 32 bit processor and the
Alpha is 64 bit you will have to recompile. 32 Bit
compiled apps (executables) will run on the Alpha but
I don'y know about PH because is it really only
semi-compiled.

Instead of re-compiling you could simply run the
source. What is the client's aversion to the
re-compile? Do they think the source is incomplete or
out-of-date?

BTW, did HP release OpenVMS for the Itanium processor
yet? Will PH run in that environment?
