We want everyone to try PowerHouse Web. We think that anyone who wants =
to do
data-driven web applications will love it. If anyone wants a 6 month =
trial,
we can arrange that.

As for the offer of "free software" it applies to supported customers =
of
PowerHouse on a platform that supports PowerHouse Web. Why? Because you =
need
PowerHouse (QDESIGN and PDL/PHD) in order to create screens/pages for
PowerHouse Web to run. So our offer was directed at supported customers =
on
MPE/iX, OpenVMS Alpha, UNIX (HP-UX, AIX, Solaris), and Windows =
NT/2000/XP.
PowerHouse 4GL and PowerHouse Web 8.4D will be shipping on those =
platforms
in early April.

My initial answer to your question was a simple "NO".

However, one has to recognize that Cognos is the dominant BI software
company in the world. They have a marketing strategy for this side of =
the
business and are seeing great results.  I believe that some of the best
marketing that any company can do is by word of mouth and by list =
servers
such as this.  In many ways this forum is one of the best exposure =
areas for
topical discussions on the problems and opportunities that we all face.
Perhaps limited in scope but powerful in getting news out to the legion =
of
PH supporters.

I was asked earlier "what does 6 months mean".  Let me explain:  In the
package that all supported customers will receive will be the =
following.

        The latest version of PH on the appropriate platform.
=20
        PowerHouse Web and AXiant will be included.  You will be asked =
to
call Cognos for a Temporary license key that will allow you to use both =
or
either products for a six month period.  Upon completion of the trial =
you
will have the choice to either keep the software for the price of =
support or
discontinue using it.

regarding
PowerHouse.

We have published a date for PowerHouse on MPE/iX. We did so very soon =
after
HP's announcement. As previously announced PowerHouse on MPE/iX will be
supported until Dec 31, 2006. We have also matured PowerHouse on VAX =

HP's end of life on VAX), and on AS/400 and Tru64 (due to business =
reasons).
