Can we get XML support in PowerHouse Web?

These are interesting questions. I need to think on it some more as I have only thought about from a business rather than a programming perspective. Most current RDBMS's now include an XML interface for use by web apps, the Cognos BI tools use XML to call each other and user defined components as well as hooks to other tools, XML can also be used to read/write to text files including cookies.

My thoughts are still too foggy. When they clear up I can respond better.

How do you see the calls working? Is this like a DO EXTERNAL or do you see us writing XML to a port?

And how much format information would be needed in the XML?

Bob

I mean the ability to create interfaces (calls) to other applications and data stores using XML commands and data strings. Similar to what IWR, PPES, Upfront can do today. I assume ReportNet also uses XML to communicate with various applications.

XML support is on the enhancement list for PowerHouse Web. What I'd like to know is what you mean by XML support? Just to see if it fits with mine (and no, I won't give any hints :-) ).

To those nice Cognos people watching the list.

Are there any plans to incorporate XML support in the PowerHouse Web syntax?
