Darren posts...

For
instance I just got screwed by the QDesign 31 file limit.

To Which Al Replies....

Does that screwing get in line after a <possible> mediocre design
forcing all these files onto 1 screen-set...???

That statement is a little harsh. Cognos does believe in itself. It just

chooses to focus on BI. Not BI as in two (ADT & BI tools), but BI as in
Wintel Business Intelligence tools. (I say wintel because that is the
only platform the user interface runs on. I exclude browsers because
that is usually limited in abilities, and sometimes in browser choice.)

ADT must have a decent revenue stream to continue the minor upgrades.
Also a number of ADT customers are current BI customers or potentials.
So, I suspect Cognos doesn't want to piss them off too much, else those
customers may start buying from competitors.

Powerhouse may be a decent tool, but certainly isn't perfect. For
instance I just got screwed by the QDesign 31 file limit. I have to
TRICK (perform otherwise unnecessary coding) Powerhouse yet again. By
the way, our ignorance of other great development tools does not make
Powerhouse the greatest. :)
