Chris, this doesn't work for 7.10, but it does work in 8.30 and up at least,
probably worked in 8.10 and up. 8.xx is set up to handle date and time
datatypes in a much more friendly manner than 7.10. We discussed changing
VMSDATE to report the time by default in 8.30, but decided that it would
break too many reports out there, so we didn't do it.
I haven't tried it with other formats, but feel free to try them out and
report to the list what you find. I can't think why it wouldn't work, but I
can't promise anything.

I never knew this was posible - I've always used dateextract to define a
temp, which is horribly messy, particularly when you want input as well
as display.
What versions is this supported from ?
Does it support various formats, or just yyyymmdd ?
Thanks,
Chris
