<smaller>Free PowerHouse Web....</smaller>
<smaller>If PHWeb were included with the next release (8.4) along with
AXiant do you believe that your applications would be better served????

Yes, we could provide a GUI front end for the people requiring it and
still retain a reliable back end (for the workers).

<smaller>Do you see the potential for migrating existing applications to
the web???? to Unix????</smaller>

You need only migrate that which you need on the web.
Yes to Unix

If they already use PH and get the web stuff free.
It may take a while but you could get new business out of this.

YESSSSSS Pleeeese.

Yes please.

<smaller>Are you prepared to show cost savings, manhour reductions,
increased productivity etc etc ??</smaller>

Hey man, most of us are down to bare bones now. I can only assume you are
asking those migrating from other development platforms.
It would be more of a case to show potential cost savings of not
migrating to a new development platform.

<smaller>I hadn't noticed that my brain is rotting.... Good thing you
pointed this</smaller>
<smaller>out... :-) </smaller>
<smaller>Seriously though, there is no need to throw out perfectly good
systems in PH</smaller>
<smaller>just so you can use the newest and shiniest toys (take a look
some time at</smaller>
<smaller>how much these new products and development cycles cost - ie:
Oracle</smaller>
<smaller>Designer and friends). Many of these new toys can still work
in harmony</smaller>
<smaller>with the older, venerable systems and cost next to NOTHING (ie:
big PH shop</smaller>
<smaller>means FREE Powerhouse Web). (courtesy of
OpenVMS/Cognos)</smaller>
<smaller>cheers!</smaller>

<smaller>Powerhouse will...</smaller>
<smaller>Be used only to maintain current PH systems. Few if any _new_
major </smaller>
<smaller>software projects will occur.</smaller>
<smaller>Continue to shrink in the market. Companies will transition to
packaged </smaller>
<smaller>software and that other 'silver bullet', Java development
solutions.</smaller>
<smaller>Limit developers learning experience to 'more of the same'
maintenance, </smaller>
<smaller>rotting their brains into believing PH is the best solution for
all </smaller>
<smaller>problems.</smaller>
<smaller>Not have any new developer enhancements worth
mentioning.</smaller>
<smaller>Still be considered overpriced for many.</smaller>
<smaller>Not be available on open source operating systems such as
Linux.</smaller>
<smaller>Yet another discussion will ask; Is Powerhouse Dead?</smaller>
<smaller>Lastly, Cognos will not respond to such questions. Assuming they
even </smaller>
<smaller>have the answers.</smaller>
<smaller>In summary, we'll be exactly where we are now. Is that where
you want </smaller>
<smaller>to be?</smaller>
