Disappearing background

We experience this sometimes. A ctrl-w works to refresh the screen. We
really don't know why it happens, but are suspicious of screen settings
saved in the emulator itself. We use WRQ Reflections for Unix and Digital.
It appears when a screen width of 132 is saved, sometimes the 80 char width
(default) gets lost. I know that is a flakey answer, but messing with the
screen display properties in Reflections seems to work for us.
It is a problem that is notoriously hard to replicate and troubleshoot.

Hi there.
Here's a little poser for you.
Every now and then we get an irate user on the phone complaining that, as
the user goes into Find mode, she loses all of the normal background and
only the key field prompted for appears. (I'd send you screenshots but it
blows an email limit locally if I send attachments and if I embed them it
blows a limit at the swau.ede end)
Ctrl-G does not fix this, it's not restricted to one screen or one user in
particular, and it doesn't appear to be associated with any other kind of
error. In 18 years of writing PowerHouse, I've only seen this once before.
On that occasion, although it was never resolved to my satisfaction, it was
put down to a comms problem because it only happened at a remote site that
was notoriously troublesome. They were due to upgrade the line to that site
anyway, and the problem did indeed appear to go away when they did so, but
as I say I was never convinced. And now I'm even less convinced because it's
all happening in the same building this time!
Anyone know of a fix/workaround? I know it's just a nuisance but these guys
are taking orders over the phone and they don't need this.
By the way, we're using PH 7.10.G1 on an Alpha running OpenVMS V7.3-1.
Regards,
Colin
