PH and Oracle Upgrade

Re the numbering, originally, PH 8.23 (and the other 8.2x versions) were
done for PH Web. However, they are fully compatible with PH 8.1x. So in most
cases, we send out bug fixes in the 8.2x series.
There will be a new PH on Solaris this year and it will support Oracle 8i
and 9i. We're working on the last few issues and hope to have it out in the
next few months.

Subject: PH and Oracle Upgrade
Hi All,
Is anyone running Powerhouse 8.13D1 or better on Solaris 8 against
Oracle 8i 8.1.7 or maybe even Oracle 9i? I'm interested in problem and
success stories. The Cognos support page mentions three 'Known
problems' against 8..23D, One of which I'm sure was in a earlier version
of PH. So I am concerned they also would affect 8.13.
Our current system is PH 8.13D1, Oracle 7.3.4, and Solaris 6 (SunOS
5.6). In the last few years we have implemented cursors. Some very
complicated.
This year we are looking at upgrading to PH 8.13D7, Solaris 8, and at
least Oracle 8i 8.1.7. Personally I'm interested in moving straight to
Oracle 9i.
To the Cognos group:
I'm wondering if I understand the PH release numbering properly. Is
8.23 for PH Web only and 8.13 for non PH Web users?
Also, is Solaris expected to have any major PH upgrade this year?
Thank you all for your help.
