PowerHouse on Linux

That's the beauty of all the work that's gone into PH Web (and Axiant).
It adds a very current GUI interface to a sturdy, trustworthy back end.
It's pretty easy to make Quiz write out HTML based web-ready reports.
The end users will never know that they aren't in Gui/Web heaven, but
the developers will be astonished at how easily they have mastered the
modern vernaculars...
So, hopefully when the Powerhouse MPE team release their homesteading PH
version, they'll turn their attention to a Linux RH 9 (10?) release.

Subject: PowerHouse on Linux
The comments about PH on Linux triggers some thougths. I don't have any
answers, but maybe some of you have opinions?
1. Can IBM's committment to Linux be interpreted as an opening for
Cognos/PowerHouse to reach the IBM mainframe marked?
2. If so, is the IBM mainframe really a marked for a 20 year old
character based 4GL? There still exists a lot of characterbased
Cobol/CISC applications in the IBM world, but it seems likely that new
development or reengineering projects will be using other, more modern
developing tools than PH?
