Hi Neil,
I found two emails on the topic of Linux with ADT products,
this one from Bob Deskin, Wed 05/09/2001,
Just for the record, PowerHouse is not officially supported on LINUX. That
said, I have heard of at least one customer who used the SCO version with
apparent success however I do not know which version it was nor do I know
which database was used.
We do not have any plans to port PowerHouse to LINUX at this time. Not only
are we not sure of a market, but a port would require that our data access
services layer be available on LINUX and it is not as yet.
As an aside, if anyone is using a LINUX Web Server, the PowerHouse Web PHCGI
component is available on LINUX. It's written in C++ and doesn't need any of
the services layer. This means that you can have your Web Server on LINUX
and still run PowerHouse Web on any of our Series 8 supported platforms.
and this one from Conrad Whittall, Tue 07/11/2000
PowerHouse CGI for Linux
We are pleased to inform you that PowerHouse CGI for Linux is now available
for Intel-based servers. PowerHouse CGI for Linux is built and tested on the
Red Hat 6.2 distribution of Linux. We have not tested on any other
distribution of Linux, and currently have no plans to do so.
PowerHouse CGI for Linux now enables customers who run their Web sites on
Intel-based Linux servers to connect with PowerHouse Web Dispatchers running
on any of the currently supported PowerHouse Web platforms, i.e. MPE/iX,
OpenVMS, HP-UX, AIX, Solaris and Tru64 UNIX. Note that PowerHouse CGI for
Linux will only work with Linux running on Intel (or compatible) hardware --
it will not run under Linux on SPARC, PA-RISC, PowerPC, S/390, etc.
Please also note that only the PowerHouse CGI component is available for
Linux at this stage. Investigations are underway into also making the
PowerHouse Web Dispatcher available on Linux with the next release of
PowerHouse Web. However, no firm decision has yet been taken on this. Also
there are no plans at this time to make PowerHouse 4GL or the PowerHouse Web
Server available on Linux.
PowerHouse CGI for Linux is available free of charge, but is not available
through inventory. If you have a PowerHouse Web customer or prospect who
requires this component you must contact Bob Deskin, the PowerHouse Web
product manager.
Best regards,

Hi Dwight,
the PH products set a variable PHTEMP to the area which will be used as the
temporary environment, outside the products 'echo $PHTEMP' returns nothing,
but inside, see below,

Does any one know what system call is made to acquire the path/directory for
phxxxx.tmp/quizsave.qzs etc.. under Powerhouse for Unix. I've been running
the SCO 733c6 version under Red Hat Linux successfully under versions 5.0
through 7.2. RH 7.3 just came out, and for some reason when I fire up
quiz, qtp, qshow or qdesign, I get "Filename too long (quizsave)". The full
path is '/home/richards/phxxxx.tmp/quizsave.qzs' Quick runs ok. I have a
support call into Red Hat but thought I might try here as well.
