Being that OpenVMS is 64 bit and it will be awhile before Microsoft produce a version of NT that is not a patched-up version of the 32 bit OS, OpenVMS is a much better strategic platform for the future for high-power applications. Purchase costs difference will be insignificant and you can retain your in-house OpenVMS expertise. Clustering of OpenVMS systems is light years ahead of Windows NT clustering. No-one has ever successfully hacked into an OpenVMS system without having a privileged account and viruses are not written for this OS, unlike for Windows NT.
