Axiant vs VB (was RE: Is powerhouse dead?)

Are you talking about Axiant 3.1 or higher? The older versions may have
been clunky and bug ridden (and feature less) but the latest ones are great.
I don't think that Axiant is trying to be an object platform but it is a
client server 4GL.

The biggest advantage it has I believe is database control via the
dictionary. VB doesn't have a data dictionary and I think this is a big
drawback in sophisticated database record access.

Did you start out using VB or PowerHouse? The point of view has a lot to do
with how we feel about one product or another.

You're kidding me! Axiant is the worst attempt at a 4gl-like object platform
that I have ever witnessed. VB is robust, it's Windows friendly and it
works! Beats Visual C and Java anyday. Mention Axiant to anyone outside the
COGNOS community and they think you're talking about a Greek god with a
powerful axe!
