PDL erors

Is your dictionary set before you enter PDL? If so then PDL will open it
automatically, and that could be causing a similar problem to renaming the
dictionary after doing a USE.

Joe,

Close, but does not quite match your scenario. I rename the PHD file before
invoking the source statements. Here is the PDLUSE file:

:PURGE PHDOLD
:RENAME PHDNEW,PHDOLD
SET NOLIST
;SET NOWARN
USE PHDSRCE.DICT

Meanwhile, today I am getting no errors.

Leonard

In the PDLUSE file, I do rename the previous compiled PHD, but before

Hi Leonard,

I found the document below, is it possible that you are trying to rename
the
document as in the problem outlined below ?

Problem Description

A dictionary is compiled and loaded in PDL. While still in PDL, the
compiled dictionary is renamed. When PDL is exited, Fatal Error 1065 is
returned. For example:

:PDL
> CREATE DICT myphd NOT PRELOAD
.....
> LOAD
0 Errors 0 Warnings.
> :RENAME myphd, yourphd
> EXIT
 Code Trap :
  11326000040
  00004424603
  00000004034
  00000000022
*E* Memory fault (invalid address).
*Fatal Error* *1065* Notify Cognos Customer Support

Do you want a QDUMP file produced?(Y/N)n

RUN PDL.PH819C5.COGNOS;INFO=""; XL=" *PHLIBXL *ORDBA
ORACLEXL.PUB.ORACLEM"
Program terminated in an error state. (CIERR 976)

Solution Description

As the compiled dictionary is still being accessed, it is not possible to
rename it while inside PDL. Exit PDL and rename the dictionary from the
system prompt.

HPe3000 PH 8.19C

I encounter the following error consistenty when compiling a dictionary.
Consistently, every other time, that is.

 Code Trap :
  11326000040
  00004415043
  00000002037
  00000000022
*E* Memory fault (invalid address).
*Fatal Error* *1065* Notify Cognos Customer Support

Do you want a QDUMP file produced?(Y/N)n

After the error, I attempt to compile again and there is no error. I make a
change and compile: Error then No Error.

I no longer generate the QDUMP file.

I am not dead in the water, but is there any explanation?
