Best way to implement Cognos

Thanks John/Neil,

These sites are primarily manufacturing plants with little or no network
infrastructure.  Additionally I think a business connection to the Internet
is somewhere between $200 - $500 per month ISDN or Cable modem.  Not to
mention firewalls/routers/servers and PC's.  I may be wrong but I think it
is cheaper to set up an independent server with terminals but hey that's why
I am asking.  Before I get down to the actual number crunching I thought I
would appeal to the group mind to line up my best options for research.  All
suggestions are welcome.

Sounds like a posting designed to start a platform flame fest :-)

Do the "multiple locations" really need their own servers? Is there a
political or other non-technical reason for not employing a biggish central
server and wide area connections to it? Communications costs have fallen to
the point where having one big box is probably cheaper and is certainly
easier to manage.

But to contribute to the "my box is better than yours" thread that your
original question started, of course a new N class HP e3000 with TurboImage
would be the platform and database of choice. Let me know if you need help
implementing this system.
