Hi Donald,

I have used Unidata on HP9000 (long, long ago) and PowerHouse on HP9000, but
not both together. I think you'd struggle to connect PowerHouse on unix to
Unidata. Even if you could, you would also find incompatibilities between
the two - Unidata supports variable-length fields, multi-valued fields, and
variable-length records, and its native programming language (unibasic)
handles these using Dynamic Arrays. If anyone out there remembers Pick,
then this will all sound familiar. Your only option would be to use an ODBC
driver to connect, and use SQL in your code, but ODBC connections are not
supported from PowerHouse on HP9000. Your best bet would be to use Axiant
(which supports ODBC databases) and deploy a thick-client solution, with the
application running on your Axiant PC and the database on your HP9000. But
that assumes (of course) that you have Axiant, and that you were willing to
run the application from a PC, and you have the relevant Unidata ODBC
driver...

Has anyone had the need to use Powerhouse on a HP 9000 using the Unidata
database?
