'Y' in defined item name

It's not a southern hemisphere thing - other than noone in the northern
hemisphere seems to have reported the problem before. It looks like it is
fixed in PH 8.00C & later (correct me if I am wrong, I just did a quick test
in a couple of versions). In the 7.10G versions, use NONULLSEPARATOR on
your define to get around the problem:

def aby date format ddmmyy NONULLSEPARATOR = sysdate

this seems to do the trick.

Here's a very straight-forward Quiz program:

> cancel clear
> access <file>
>
> define ybcde date format ddmmyy = PERM-START-DATE
> define aycde date format ddmmyy = PERM-START-DATE
> define abyde date format ddmmyy = PERM-START-DATE
> define abcye date format ddmmyy = PERM-START-DATE
> define abcdy date format ddmmyy = PERM-START-DATE
>
> report ybcde &
> aycde &
> abyde &
> abcye &
> abcdy
> go

And here's the output:
    YBCDE AYCDE ABYDE ABCYE ABCDY

  01/05/60 01/05/60 010560 01/05/60 01/05/60
  27/05/60 27/05/60 270560 27/05/60 27/05/60
  27/05/60 27/05/60 270560 27/05/60 27/05/60
  27/05/60 27/05/60 270560 27/05/60 27/05/60
  27/05/60 27/05/60 270560 27/05/60 27/05/60

My query: EVERY TIME when the character "Y" is in THIRD position of a
DEFINEd item name, the date SEPARATOR is not printed. Why is that?

Cheers,
