We are using 7.10.F3 on OpenVMS V7.1 and it works they way it is supposed
to!

    YBCDE AYCDE ABYDE ABCYE ABCDY

  18-12-89 18-12-89 18-12-89 18-12-89 18-12-89
  01-01-02 01-01-02 01-01-02 01-01-02 01-01-02
  13-01-90 13-01-90 13-01-90 13-01-90 13-01-90
  13-01-92 13-01-92 13-01-92 13-01-92 13-01-92
  13-01-89 13-01-89 13-01-89 13-01-89 13-01-89
  13-01-92 13-01-92 13-01-92 13-01-92 13-01-92
  14-01-93 14-01-93 14-01-93 14-01-93 14-01-93

The date field I referenced is zoned unsigned size 6 in an RMS file. I
also checked using a VMSDATE field in an RDB table and got the same result,
so it looks like something that crept in between F3 and G!!

Douglas Brown

Here's a very straight-forward Quiz program:

> cancel clear
> access <file>
>
> define ybcde date format ddmmyy = PERM-START-DATE
> define aycde date format ddmmyy = PERM-START-DATE
> define abyde date format ddmmyy = PERM-START-DATE
> define abcye date format ddmmyy = PERM-START-DATE
> define abcdy date format ddmmyy = PERM-START-DATE
>
> report ybcde &
> aycde &
> abyde &
> abcye &
> abcdy
> go

And here's the output:
    YBCDE AYCDE ABYDE ABCYE ABCDY

  01/05/60 01/05/60 010560 01/05/60 01/05/60
  27/05/60 27/05/60 270560 27/05/60 27/05/60
  27/05/60 27/05/60 270560 27/05/60 27/05/60
  27/05/60 27/05/60 270560 27/05/60 27/05/60
  27/05/60 27/05/60 270560 27/05/60 27/05/60

My query: EVERY TIME when the character "Y" is in THIRD position of a
DEFINEd item name, the date SEPARATOR is not printed. Why is that?
