suppressing warning messages

You know you're damned if you do and damned if you don't. This warning and a
number of others, are conveniences that indicate potential problems.
Unfortunately if lots of them get issued, they lose their value. I don't
know about this particular warning, but many of the warnings we issue are
there because a customer complained that we didn't issue a warning. Sigh.
If you really dislike a particular warning, you can replace it using the
alternative message file. But you can't just leave it blank because then we
think that you like the original message. But you can replace it with a
single character, such as *. Then all you get out is *W* *.
Another alternative is to have the output written to a file and remove those
warnings you don't like using a text editor.

Subject: PDL: suppressing warning messages
HPe3000 -- PH 819C
In recompiling our PHD the screen is cluttered with numerous instance of the
following message:
*W* The storage type and size may be too small for some values.
Out of 349 warnings, 291 are of this type. There are 13 "duplicate"
definitions,
but with some work, we can remove those. The others have to do with
TurboImage
keys that have verbiage that relates to indexed files, and we probably could
clean those up as well.
Yes, I know I can suppress all warnings with SET NOWARN, but that might
cause me
to ignore some other warning that may have significance for our
applications.
So is there a way to suppress just this message? Is this pie in the sky?
