What platform are you referring to ?

Externals for Quiz & QTP would be good, although if you have that capability
(to write 3gl code) you can do it now, & interface to PH thru subfiles if
necessary.

My approach to the original problem would be:
Either:
1. Quiz to generate a subfile of offending records.
   QTP to substitute 1 or more characters, & write a subfile of still
	offending records.
   A DCL (shell) script to rerun the QTP & rename the subfiles until the
	subfile was empty.
Or:
2. Quiz/3gl or pure 3gl.

Never seen Zebra printers. We use the Eltron LP2242 - cheap (400 UKP) and
robust. Also the TEC B452 - not cheap, and slightly eccentric serial
interface. Also the little labelwriters from Costar: tiny & very cheap, but
hard to program (no fonts) and expensive consumables (1 inch reel of lengthwise
labels, perforated backing).
