Licence letter

I've just had a letter from Cognos mentioning "major new releases for the
majority of software" this year, and accusing us of "running a number of
licences unsupported". It goes on to offer an "amnesty".
This accusation is untrue, as far as I'm aware.
I find it particularly irritating given the ongoing lack of any scheduled ship
date for PH 8.30 for VMS. I & many other VMS customers have been waiting for
this in order to move forward from 7.10.G, shipped over two years ago: there's
too much missing from 8.10/20.
If it means we're no longer supported on 7.10.G, I'd be far from happy - as far
as I know G4 is quite recent, acknowledging that V8 is presently inadequate for
many customers.
I'd be happy to investigate anything specific, but this looks like a
fishing trip from Cognos. I don't know what the circulation is.

IT Manager
