I've always used PHDFM FDL, which then generates both a data file and the corresponding FDL, e.g.

PHDFM FDL

Filename: filename

This will generate filename.dat and filename.fdl

Hope that helps.

We currently use an .FDL file called GEN_ASCTXT.FDL which is a template for
our ascii text output files, generated from QTP. It currently has a line
length size of 1023 characters whereas we need to output 2093.
I have tried copying this file and altering the size but this has not
worked. Is there a FDL generate process we have to use, or is 1023 the
upper limit?
