When I recently needed this information, I executed the SHOW RECORD record to a
disk file then massaged the output to change all of the item information to SHOW
ELEMENT element for each element in the record(s) in which I was interested. I
did this to another disk file that I had to edit semi-manually to eliminate the
element fields that I did not want. In my case, I was interested in the help and
description fields for each element.
Your question does raise a question of why the QSHOW facility does not provide
an option to configure the output or some links into the PHD file. Several years
ago, I was able to "decompile" a QDD file and assemble some reasonable reports.
It was lots of fun to do, but not cost effective.
If it will help anyone to pursue this tack, QDD at the time (HP3000, that is)
used record numbers to scurry about the QDD file. I do not know of the structure
of the PHD file, alothough it would not surprise me if it is the same or
similar.
