Compiled vs Uncompiled Quiz

We have a Unix 7.33.D3 environment on HP. When moving from MPE to Unix
we found that our style caused enormous problems with compiled Quiz.
We do a large amount of having a Qtp or Quiz program extract to a
temporary subfile followed by a second Quiz program that does the actual
report.
Unfortunately, Unix/Cognos' implementation of "temporary" files (Unix
doesn't actually HAVE a temporary file) means that we would have to
compile the data extract program, THEN start a Quiz process INSIDE of
the first one in order to compile the extract program. Enormous hassle
compared to how we could do it in MPE.
We found that leaving things in source works MUCH better in Unix. The
only drawback we've found is where one moves new source live and forgets
to remove OLD FORMAT subfiles! That's just error on our part, though.
