Just learn how to use your "Reply To All" button, to reply to the originator
as well as the list. The choice is yours. That is why both buttons are
there.
If it's not broken, why fix it.

Which would you rather have?
a.) A public message inadvertently send to only one person, and then send
to the list when the error is discovered;
or
b.) A private, and possibly embassingly frank, message sent accidentally
to a public mailing lists and archived on the internet, with no hope of
recovery or removal.
It is quite common that lists are set up so that a simple reply will go
directly to the original writer whose message to the list you are replying
to. It is far less common that the default reply address is the list owner.
The other common practice, of having the default reply target being the
list address itself, leads to all sorts of problems; as when a mal-formed
e-mail responder program generates a feedback loop between itself and the
list management software.
I belong to a great number of technical mailing lists and I am not aware
of any of these that have the list set as the default reply address.
Regards,
Jim
