Ron and list,
This is a known issue 294263. This one seems to have eluded Bob's immense
knowledge of the product. ;-)
I logged this issue, and it still occurs in product as new as 819c4. The
formal description is:
When SET REP DEV DISC <name> is used to send the report to a output disc
file and the number of output records created exceeds the SET REP LIM
setting, there is no exception raised by Quiz. When the EOF of the output
file is reached Quiz prompts the stdin with "The file <name> already exists.
OK to delete (Y/N)"
Quiz should raise an exception because the result output will be invalid -
and if run the process is run in batch, the output file is overwritten
automatically and no exceptions are raised to warn the customer of a
problem.
This problem has been around for a fair length of time, unfortunately,
because the priority of this issue is not high and there are workarounds. I
remember hitting this problem before coming to work for Cognos. If you have
purchased support with your PowerHouse license you can call in and report
that you have hit this problem. This will further raise awareness within
Cognos of the problem and may lead to the problem being addressed sooner
than later.
Cheers,
/mc
