Ask a guru - CM->NM & NM -> CM Switching???

Well, I think the idea of the "Ask the Guru" was for things that would be
responded to at the Conference. And I think something this technical
couldn't be easily answered on the fly.
So I asked development (see, that's what makes a guru - knowing who to ask)
about this. We do not use CM directly in 7.29 or 8.19 (you didn't give a
version, so these are the last two). However, there may still be HP
intrinsics that are using CM. You didn't say which component you were using.
But as an example, the old KSAM is still CM (I believe), so even though
PowerHouse is NM, the file processing may be CM.

Hi Bob and All :)
ok... I have a question for Cognos in general... over the weekend I got a
page.... (I was the "On-Call" person this weekend) ... One of our office's
was getting very bad response time (10 seconds or more after hitting the
return key on a HP 3000 979-200 with oodles of memory)
I logged in from the house and ran LPS's SOS... SOS reported the CM to NM
switches as being "Excessive" and showed that we had only Cognos and CI
things active on the machine...and I remembered the posts over the last
few/several days about QTP doing CM->NM switches... so my question is: Just
how much CM->NM & NM->CM switching do Cognos PowerHouse Products do? and
umm... why?
