OVMS to Unix migration

You didn't mention why you wanted to move from OpenVMS to UNIX. Aside from
the actual migration issues, very often the reasons for the move are more
telling in terms of how much pain you're willing to put up with for the
presumed gain.

I'm neither an OpenVMS nor a UNIX guru. But from a PowerHouse point of view,
UNIX PH is quite generic. All those OpenVMS specific features will have to
be changed. Many of them do not have direct equivalents in the UNIX PH
world. For a start, look through the PH Handbook for superscripts that
indicate a difference between platforms. This will give you a good idea of
the syntax that will need changing and from the syntax where functionality
might be different.

For example, subfiles aren't the same. So any permanent subfiles will have
to be re-generated as portable subfiles and then brought over. The record 1
versus record 0 has been mentioned.

Most of the PowerHouse code should be the same, but there will be
differences wherever the application interfaces with the file or operating
system.
