Nicholas,

My guess is that Quick is trying (and failing) to lock a ksam file.
 - are you specifying a particular lock or access disposition?
 - is there a file equation active specifying an access or lock disposition?
 - is there another application accessing this file with an incompatible
access/lock disposition? A calling screen?

Try a LISTF ,8 to check for concurrent access. Do a LISTEQ and check the
list carefully.....

HTH

/Hans

Subject: file must be locked

I willing on HP3000 mpex 5.5 OS PH ver. 7.29.

I just tried to use a quick screen to access a ksam file and get the
following error:

THE FILE MUST BE LOCKED BEFORE ISSUING THIS INTRINSIC (FSERR 179)

I have used the screen before without any problems, I no modifications to
this screen since its last use.

I tried to recreate the file and fill the information back in from the
backup I made, same error occurs. I will be asking operationst to restore
the files from the most recent backup and see if that works. I will also
try to recompile the quick screen and see if that helps.

I am not sure what the problem is; the file or screen?

I like to thank everyone who responds to this email ahead of time.
