8.19C PowerHouse will not run under 5.5 without express patch 5 or 6, I
can't remember exactly, which one. There were some additional C library
routines added with that patch. So there had to be some express patches
installed.

Subject: Recompile All QUICK and QUIZ When Upgrading to 8.19C5 From C4
Folks:
If you upgrade from PowerHouse 8.19C5 from 8.19C4, you will need to
recompile *all* QUICK and QUIZ programs that were compiled under 8.19C4,
despite what the install instructions would have you believe.
Last weekend I performed this same upgrade for a client. The
documentation that came with the upgrade said that only programs
exhibiting specific problems need to be recompiled. Problems such as
"When explicitly asking QTP to create a format 7 indexed subfile, a
format 8 is created", "Misleading error messages when data file doesn't
exist", etc. require recompiling (per the 8.19C5 Fix List).
Environment: HP3000/918, MPE/iX 5.5 (no Express Patch), IMAGE. No
Axiant, no ODBC, no PowerHouse Web, no Allbase/SQL. Just your basic
terminal emulator running programs on the host.
So you would think it's just a matter of restoring to PH819C5.COGNOS,
running COPYPH to move the software into CURRENT.COGNOS, setting your
UDCs, and maybe recompile a few programs, right? Wrong.
When I installed 8.19C5 and ran a QUICK or QUIZ program that was
previously compiled with 8.19C4, I got the error message "This
PowerHouse object file is incompatible with this PowerHouse Product".
However, QTP programs compiled under 8.19C4 worked fine. The
dictionaries were fine (QSHOW, SHOW REC M-xxxx). Go figure.
Recompiling all QUICK screens and QUIZ reports solved the problem.
Funny that install instructions didn't say to do this. I logged a
support call, and Cognos promised to update their documentation
accordingly.
