G'day Nick (Old English for "one who sends lots of email")

It's great that Cognos is getting the professional support side of
PowerHouse going like this. Hopefully it will lead to richer pastures for
us all.

Two questions:

1. How does this plan affect existing partners such as Creative Computing?

2. Can independent consultants, i.e. those not directly employed by a
partner, get certification? I would like to see certification exams and
awards for the ADT tools as there are for the BI tools. This would
definately help Cognos clients sort the wheat from the chaff when taking on
independents.

Regards,

Blue

Subject: Important Information for NA PowerHouse Customers and Contractors

Please accept my apologies for yet another SPAM (especially after my
last 3
regarding Education which contained the same message I was having
problems
with e-mail)

This message is directed at North American PowerHouse Customers and
Consultants.

Some time ago I polled this list to get an idea of services that we
could
add to ADT customers and contractors. I received a number of e-mails
that
wanted to see a sub contractor program that customers could access for a
list of qualified contractors and contractors could use to get better
support and information from Cognos along with other exclusive benefits.
Sharon Syrek who is the Service Partner Program Co-ordinator has put
together this package that I hope meets the requirements expressed
through
this list.

The Services Partner Program is an international network of professional
consulting organizations and systems integrators who collaborate with
Cognos
in addressing the consulting needs of our customers. In North America we
are
expanding this to include our ADT partners and contractors.

Program Description

The Services Partner Program extends the capabilities of the Cognos
North
American Services Organization. The Program ensures that our customers
have
easy access to qualified professionals specializing in design and
implementation of Cognos solutions. Many of our customers are faced
with
strategic decisions and are looking for expert assistance to help make
and
implement those decisions. We want to team Cognos consulting
specialists
with our partners to provide our customers with the help they need to
implement new technology.

Certified Subcontractors have in-depth technical expertise with Cognos
products and are incorporated into Cognos services as a second tier.
These
Partners receive products and support and are kept informed with company
and
product information.

Partner Support & Benefits

Certified Sub - Partners are entitled to a wide range of support and
benefits as detailed in the following table: (see additional details in
this
e-mail)

Free Cognos BI software (for personal use)
Free Product Support
Invitations to Cognos field product training
Cognos public education course discounts 25%
Cognos information access
Advertising
Subscription to Supportlink

Acceptance Criteria

This section describes each component of the acceptance criteria that an
applicant must satisfy to be accepted as a Services Partner. All
individuals
delivering services for Cognos must be certified.

Application Questionnaire
This questionnaire is designed to give Cognos an understanding of a
potential partner's business goals and areas of expertise. Responses to
this
questionnaire will be used by Cognos to determine the applicant's
position
in the program, if accepted as a partner. There are general company
questions, as well as requests for management and contact information,
financial information, technical expertise, staffing, and references.

Cognos Software Knowledge Testing
The testing determines the level of competency of each individual within
the
partner's organization who will be delivering services for Cognos
products.
All Certified Subcontractors must complete all certification exams.

Certification testing for Cognos ADT products is given at local Cognos
offices.

Program Membership Fees
Upon acceptance into the program, all partners are required to pay an
annual
membership fee. The fees for the Certified Sub is $2,500

Finder's Fees Payable to Cognos
When COGNOS introduces a partner to a business opportunity, Cognos will
receive a 15% finder's fee.

Support and Benefits
This section describes the components of the support and assistance that
Cognos will provide to Services Partners. Some components may or may
not
be available depending on the level of services partnership.

Cognos Software Product and Discounts
Partners receive up to three copies of BI software free of charge for
each
certified consultant. Partners may also purchase additional Cognos
software
for internal projects at a 25% discount.

Support
Team Cognos and Certified Subcontractors will have access to Cognos
Customer
Support free of charge.

Access to Cognos Field Product Training
Certified Subcontractors will have access to the training on a project
specific basis.

Education Course Discounts
Discounts on all public education courses are available to all Services
Partners. All discounts are listed in the Partner Benefits chart found
in
this document. All standard public education policies apply.

Cognos Information Access
Partners have direct access to Cognos through the Services Partner
Program
co-ordinator for their region. The Cognos internal information document,
Field Facts, is automatically sent to all Partners, and access to a
special
partner section of the Cognos web site is also provided.

Advertising
Advertising in publications that reach your targeted audience is an
excellent way to promote your business. One publication that reaches an
exclusive audience of Cognos software developers and end users is
Cognos'
bi-monthly newsletter, Supportlink. All Partners have access to
advertising
in this publication.

Supportlink
All certified consultants receive a 12-month subscription to the
Supportlink
newsletter.

Services Partners have direct access to Cognos through the Services
Partner
Program co-ordinator for their region.

Partners interested in enrolling in the Program should contact the above
individual. Potential partners are asked to complete an evaluation
questionnaire. If the evaluation is successful, the potential Partner
will
be asked to complete the steps detailed. Upon completion of these
steps,
the company will be accepted into the Program.
