Great story! Bob Edis did a survey on the list here one time. Where's your
survey results, Blue? :)
Salaries vary depending on the circumstances.
Permanent vs. Contract
Length of Contract
Region
Country - US leads all other countries in IT professional compensation by a
mile. Canada is catching up in figures but the dollar is only worth 68
cents
so it's just an illusion.
Your confidance in what your worth, what positions you can dig up, and what
you are willing to ask for will ultimatly determine contract compensation in
PowerHouse. Hey, next time you meet someone making $65/hr and says he has
20
years of PowerHouse experience and then says he never heard of QTP take note
-
remember this for the next time you nagiociate a contract.

I started out in Powerhouse as a user writing Quiz reports for the database
I maintained. I did Quiz Reports for about 4 years or so. My knowledge
base grew and my Quiz Reports continuously got more complicated and more
elaborate. An opportunity eventually came where I was able to move into the
IT world becoming the programming support for the database I used to
maintain. I've been a programmer for 4 years and I now support all the
Powerhouse applications we have here at Eveready and I also do the
administrative work for one of our financial applications. I have to admit,
when I started writing Quiz Reports 8 years or so ago, I never thought it
would lead me to a programming position. If a person likes challenges and
enjoys learning, Powerhouse is definitely a pretty good language to start
with. I don't know as though I'd be a programmer if I hadn't started with
Powerhouse.
I would be curious to know what kind of salarieas would be getting doubled,
(i.e., $15,000 or $25,000, etc). I've worked for the same company for
awhile and I'm just curious what salaries are like in the real world for
Powerhouse people in the United States. More specifically, somplace on the
East coast from Massachusetts to Virginia. Also, what kind of knowledge
base would be expected of somebody coming in with Powerhouse experience.
