To those who know me, you can confirm that I'm not
selfish with good credits. When I find a tool or
application, hand written, I can embrace the author,
since I have had the pleasure of writing "killer apps"
for a couple of companies. A "killer app" is a tool
that addresses a specific need and saves enormous
coding efforts. For example, I've had the pleasure of
writing two report launchers, one (1) in VMS and the
other in Unix. One central app to take parms, set up
dcl or unix scripts and control output. So now to the
purpose of this note.

To those of you who have data extract needs, that you
can't apply QTP or Quiz to the problem, you might try
contacting Jay Sadie at the vacationclub, who has
produced an amazing tool for Extract, Tranformation
and Transmission. A second tool is also available that
loads the data into databases. The mapping, rules and
processing is all GUI and fun to play with. For those
of you who don't know Jay, he was a Cognos Specialist
some years ago, and has applied 4GL analysis to data
warehouse problems. I have enjoyed the benefits for
some time now.
