Further to this problem, here's what I found out. We believe that it is
known problem number 253659 which has been fixed in 8.19C4. The
circumstances are that once an IMAGE error occurs, all subsequent errors
receive the Data access error message. This was obviously not intentional.
Customer Support is attempting to contact you and verify the nature of the
problem and arrange to send you 8.19C4. I have been told that they sent you
an e-mail. Did you contact Customer Support when you had the problem the
first time?

I have a big problem ever since Cognos went to a unified source for the
Powerhouse code (version 8.19). Very often when there is problem accessing
an
Image database you get the error "Data access error....". This error can be
caused by NUMEROUS problems. THIS IS A MAJOR STEP BACKWARDS!!! Under
earlier
versions, Powerhouse returned the normal Image errors when a problem
occurred
(these were errors generated from Image and told you exactly what the
problem
was).
What is Cognos doing to correct this problem? When?
