POPUP question

Many thanks to all who responded to my previous questions.  I have another
question, I understand the SELECTBOX command will display a list of valid
values in ENTRY mode.  What exactly is the POPUP command used for?  I played
with it and it seems to pop up a window for entry.  Would this be used as an
alternative for a subscreen?  If I had a screen full of data and I wanted the
user to be able to add notes in a separate dataset, (but there was no room on
the screen) could I use this to allow them to enter notes?
