Cognos WEB

We have been experimenting with PowerHouse Web too but my boss is waiting
for the MPE release as that's his favourite platform (we have VMS, NT, HP/UX
and MPE here).

Oracle has released Oracle Rdb 8 for Windows NT and has version 8 for VMS in
beta.  This is a VERY robust, fast and reliable RDBMS to run with PowerHouse
and as you can now get it for both your platforms, VMS and NT, I suggest to
take a look at it.  Check out www.oracle.com/rdb for the latest info.

Only PowerHouse 4GL version 8.1 and up will work with Oracle 7 or 8 on VMS
whereas any PowerHouse version will work with Oracle Rdb (which is faster
and has better tools).

I am new to the newsgroup and have been waiting for someone to ask that
question.

We might be in the same situation you are... trying to figure out where to
begin.  We presently run 7.10.F in an Alpha OpenVMS environment but will
likely to deploy Powerhouse Web in an NT environment.  Contrary to the
Cognos promotional material, no one here or at Cognos were able to get the
product to talk to a Web Server (FastTrack) on the Alpha.

A couple weeks back we successfully converted a small Quick screen to
Powerhouse Web and got it to run using Apache on a Windows 95 box.  It was
enough to keep our interest peaked.  One of our greater challenges now is
what to do about our data.  Presently we are using RMS files on the Alpha.
Powerhouse Web will run using RMS files but I think its time to convert to
something like Oracle.

Do we have any common ground?
