PH 7.10.G1 AXP License Server Problems

I cannot get version 7.10.G1 to connect to the FlexLM license server on
either of the Alpha boxes I've installed it on. Both have 7.10.F2 running
quite happily as the default version but after issuing a SETPOW 710G1
command I get the following error (or similar) trying to run any PowerHouse
component:

*E* Licensing: PH-AXP-RUNTIME PH-AXP-REPORTING-ONLY
PH-AXP-RUNTIME-WITH-REPORTING(5) PH-AXP-DEVELOPMENT Cannot connect to
license
server (-15,12:60) connection timed out

The version of FlexLM installed is the one that shipped with 7.10.G1 but
I've tried the previous version as well with the same results. Rebooting
system/restarting FlexLM etc. doesn't help.

It works fine on our VAX machines.

I've had similar problems in the past with 7.10.F2 and the response from
Cognos has been rather hit and miss; they have a standard FlexLM
troubleshooting guide they send out, but it's rather out of date and never
seems to address my specific problem. The last time this happened we just
attacked the systems with every DECnet patch we could find and it went away;
but that does not seem to be the problem now. Any ideas, anyone?

We're using:
	OpenVMS Alpha V7.1
	DECnet Plus V7.1 ECO 2 with patches DNV_AXP_OSI2071, DECNET_CDIALPHA071

I have another problem/complaint. On some of our systems we have two
products that use FlexLM licensing. It's quite hard to get them to
co-operate because the instructions provided by the FlexLM people (whoever
they are - I can't remember) don't actually work, but one of things I have
ended up doing is lovingly redefining the LM_LICENSE_FILE logical to point
to a file containing the license keys for both products. This worked quite
happily under 7.10.F2, but as part of the 7.10.G1 release, changes have been
made to the SETPH.COM file that lives in PATH$POWERHOUSE, one of which very
considerately resets LM_LICENSE_FILE back to what it wants it to be, thereby
stopping our other product from working! It wasn't broken, so why have they
fixed it? For the time being I've reverted to the old SETPH.COM.

Does everybody else hate FlexLM as well?
