Y2K - am I missing something?

Keep in mind that while you're right about Year 2000 compliant meaning that
you can "deal with the century", that is also up to the application. While
PowerHouse gives you the tools, it's up to the application to use them. Keep
in mind that if you leave dates as century excluded (6 digit) then they are
assumed to be in the DEFAULT CENTURY for the purposes of processing.
PowerHouse has always operated that way. Also your processing will be
affected by your use of the CENTURY INCLUDED|EXCLUDED option in the
dictionary. Full details are available in a paper I wrote that's up on our
web site at http://www.cognos.com/suppserv/custsupp/power2000/phcentury.html
and that's been in SupportLink. I believe I posted it here a while back. If
anyone can't get to the web site, send me an e-mail and I'll send you a copy
on Word format. Basically if you take a century excluded date and do a DAYS
function on it, PowerHouse tacks on the DEFAULT CENTURY and returns the
number of days since Dec 31, 1899. If you change the DEFAULT CENTURY that
changes your results. PowerHouse does not have built-in windowing. If you
choose to leave your dates as century excluded, you'll have to do
appropriate processing to deal with the logical century. The new CENTURY
function can help.

version 8.19C which is the "more y2k compliant" version doesn't seem to be
able to handle some basic functions, maybe I'm just missing something.
Being Y2K compliant doesn't necessarily mean that you have centuries in
your dates, it just means you can deal with the century. We are leaving
are dates in 6 characters because we can, but the DAYS function doesn't
appear to work correctly on dates that are in the new century. No amount
of coaxing with CENTURY INCLUDED or otherwise seems to help.
any ideas?
thanks,
shawn
